VOTE APRIL 1
There are a LOT of important issues facing our town right now, including the current Booster’s proposal for lights and amplified sound at a new proposed youth sports complex. I am open minded about the Boosters proposal. Our current town chair’s leadership has completely failed us, time after time trying to rush through hastily and poorly thought-out ordinance changes with little notice, nor information. In a time where important decisions are being made that will last for generations, we need better solutions, more community input and discussion, and more open information. I have the experience, vision, and leadership to make it happen.
Summary of the Status of the Boosters athletic field proposal:
Keep our town’s rural and Ag character
This includes maintaining the minimum lot size, developing a plan to minimize further annexation, promoting rural and agricultural businesses, and be mindful of how uses affect our town’s residents. I will not put personal interests, nor the interests of a select few over that of the community’s.
Make our town government more accessible, transparent and better at communication
To help our citizens more easily participate and know what is going on in town government should be a top priority. That means making public information more accessible, giving our residents better notices of ordinance changes, zoning and other important issues, and summarizing what is on agendas. Finally, no elected or appointed person in town government should have their free speech restricted, and the public should have more access to their elected officials.
promote a Citizen & customer service focused culture at town hall
Many town residents have reported to me their negative experiences at town hall. We need staff to focus on serving you the citizen, as a customer. This involves re-evaluating staffing issues, and re-evaluate why town hall is only open 3 days a week. In addition, non-elected staff should not overstep their authority, nor make policy decisions, nor participate in discussions between the duly elected board.
